Light split open. Nothing hidden, everything scattered.
The sky remembers what the earth forgets.
We named them so we would not feel so small.
Two white things in dark water. A whole world.
Perfect before it moved.
One ember. Still burning.
A window. A plant. The ordinary made sacred by attention.
They stood at the edge of everything, holding hands.
It was going somewhere once.
The sky was showing off. Nobody noticed but you.
Something broke through. Just once. Just enough.
The night the music held still long enough to photograph.
Someone wore their whole philosophy on their back.
A wall said what most people cannot.
Soft and dangerous. Reaching.
The sun disappeared. Everyone looked up.
The sun left. The color stayed a while longer.
Still. Bright. Not going anywhere.
It watches. You watch back. Neither blinks.
All that marble. All that ambition. One person looking up.
Knowledge gilded in gold. Quiet and enormous.
Someone spent a lifetime on that ceiling. You spent a second looking up.
The light knew exactly where to fall.
Old stone reaching toward new glass.
Still standing. Still sending light.
The same place, softer.
Someone left. This is what remained.
A symbol against a sky that did not ask to hold it.
All that darkness. All those words.
It drifted over everything, unbothered.
They carved it in stone so it would last. It did.
Love made permanent by a knife and patience.
A dog, a person, the sea. Everything you need.
A small green thing ascending.
The light between the columns was the point all along.
The sign said everything. Someone wrote it in the dark.
Moving the thing that moves things. A metaphor.
It watched the dome behind it, indifferent.
Red leather and gauges. The interior of desire.
Someone was here. They left proof.
Seen through trees. Everything worth looking at is half-hidden.
Something fell. The snow kept falling.
Four lines of light against nothing. Enough.
They bloom for two weeks. You happened to be there.
The sea was thinking. You caught it mid-thought.
It burns like this every night. Nobody always watches.
Ancient light, carried this far just to reach you.
Before the rain. The held breath.
Read it again.
